🎬 The Hollywood Theatre Short Film Festival 2026 🎞

HTSFF is back for its 2nd year running bigger and better than ever, with a 2-day festival across the 13th of 14th of August 2026!

This festival is a celebration of Vancouver’s independent film voices, from emerging talents to seasoned storytellers. Established in 1935, the historic Hollywood Theatre provides the perfect backdrop to showcase the city’s diverse cinematic talent. We welcome narrative shorts, abstract works, music videos, and documentaries!

Beyond showcasing their work, selected filmmakers will have the chance to discuss their creative journey through an audience Q&A, connect with other local talent, and stand the chance to win attractive prizes for their cinematic achievements.

Awards & Prizes

Awards will support the future filmmaking endeavours of deserving winners.

Available awards include:

🏆 Audience Choice: Showcase 1 - $250 gift card from Gearbase Camera Rentals
🏆 Audience Choice: Showcase 2 - $250 gift card from Gearbase Camera Rentals

🏆 Best Overall Film: Jury Selection sponsored by Sparky's Camera Rentals (details to be announced)

And last but not least...

🏆 Best Cinematographer Award presented in partnership with Keslow Camera

Rules & Terms

1. Submissions should be produced and/or directed by a Canadian or filmed in so-called Vancouver/British Columbia.
2. Submissions should generally adhere to the theme of "identity." What does it mean to be part of the Vancouver film community?
3. Submissions cannot exceed a run time of 15 minutes with credits.
4. Non-English Language films must have English subtitles.
5. The Hollywood Theatre assumes that you have the rights to all materials used in your film.
6. Submissions close June 1st 2026 @ 11:59PM.

All events are 19+/No minors unless otherwise noted. Any ticket holder unable to present valid (Government Issued) identification indicating that they are at least 19 years of age will not be admitted and will not be eligible for a refund.

Hollywood Theatre is an entirely cashless venue, and only major credit cards, debit cards, and mobile forms of payment will be accepted at all events. Select points of sale at artist merchandise may still accept cash.

By entering Hollywood Theatre, guests consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded as part of the general audience for promotional, marketing, and archival use across print, digital, and social media. Guests who do not wish to be photographed or filmed should speak with a staff member upon arrival or email us at info@hollwoodtheatre.ca

This is an All Ages event. Two pieces of ID required for bar service, and may be requested for ticket authentication.
