Operating as a neighbourhood theatre from 1935 to 2011, The Hollywood Theatre is a superior example of the Art Deco style. Architect Harold Cullerne designed the elegant theatre with neon signs reflective of the streamlined Jazz Age. It evoked the glamour and elegance of the 1930s, a time when Vancouver was growing rapidly, building other landmark structures such as Vancouver City Hall, the Lions Gate Bridge and the Burrard Bridge.
Extensive renovations were completed in 2020 while maintaining the timeless style of the original structure. With modern Tech Specs, The Hollywood Theatre now offers multi-dimensional programming including film screenings, musical performances, live theatre, comedy, festival and educational events, technical seminars and lectures as well as providing availability and access for events dedicated to charitable fundraising.
The Hollywood Theatre continues its legacy of strengthening the community through welcoming artistic and cultural events on Vancouver’s West Side. Join us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and our newsletter for special announcements.View Gallery
